Why does it do so well? If you understand that a major part of Google’s ranking algorithm is backlinks… (votes for your website) then it only makes sense. Because, Google’s YouTube has enough inbound links to rank well in pretty much any keyword category… Especially for local. In fact, YouTube has 273,051,453 backlinks to its domain, AWESOME linkage. None of us will ever have that many banklinks, but when we find sites that do and we can leverage it, that’s a good thing!
I’ve started a group on Facebook if you would like to join me. It’s all about Local Search Engine Marketing please come join the conversation and share what is working for you!
Your Site Must Deliver Entertainment or Knowledge!
Did you know that Google lists more than 4,500 English-language news sources worldwide! People love to be current on news and information! I mean, how else would 4,500 English news agencies be able to prosper? And news and information is how we’ll drive traffic to our websites. Hi, welcome back to “Got Local Traffic?” According to MSDN, in order for a website to be useful to an Internet audience, each site must deliver entertainment or knowledge, or improve the way its audience accomplishes some important task.
Think about it, to get news or information is the reason you opened and are reading this blog post. Who knows, you may even think it important enough to forward it on to someone else. So, by providing sound relevant content we are already beginning to build traffic to “Got Local Traffic?”.
Alike, it will be good relevant content that will bring traffic to your site. The really good news is other webmasters are looking for fresh content to provide their clients. Thus, if we provide well written and thought-out articles along other types of content that can easily get picked up and reproduced on other sites; we win, by adding backlinks to our website. Today’s marketing minute is about content, and believe me content is king! I will not be going into great detail in this issue, but rather I intend to provide a simple five part outline. However, my plan is to come back to cover this section in detail in my next series.
There are five areas I believe will help create the necessary backlinks for our websites to climb in the search engines. First, we must keep fresh relevant articles pertaining to your products / services and industry news in front of your clients and prospects. These articles should be written in such a way as to position us as industry gurus. This should provide a greater likelihood for them to be picked up and used by other webmasters.
Second, type of content is referred to as sticky, because it keeps our web traffic returning time and again to our website. Thus it’s very important to develop sticky content. Also, Sticky content that is extremely effective is designed to create value for and be free to other webmasters. This allows us to siphon their traffic flow to our website.
The third content strategies are chat rooms, bulletin boards and other community portal programs that create a place for our clients to hang out and learn more about issues that specifically affect their business.
The fourth strategy is to produce public relation publications and broadcast them via a number of PR site on the web. Of course, in this same vein we should make sure that not only is our PR information being broadcast but every article that we author on our site as well. There are many broadcasting tools that we can use and I will provide links to them as we cover this subject in more detail later on.
Finally, content that can, and if done properly, will be, passed on by our visitors to their friends and associates. I am speaking of newsletters, blogs and podcasts.
I will be going into detail on each of these five content strategies after concluding our present series on generating website traffic.
Your home work for this week is to begin developing a library of articles, news and PR content that has been authored by you or someone in your organization. Here’s to the flood gate of sales at your front door and I’ll see you next time.
